Questions are a part of the process — below are some that come up frequently before getting started.

Q: Do you offer virtual therapy sessions?

Yes — all sessions are currently held via secure, HIPAA-compliant video. I’m licensed in California, Texas, and Colorado and can work with clients located in those states. You can join sessions from the comfort and privacy of your own space.

Q: How do I know if therapy is right for me?

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected — therapy may be a helpful step. Many of my clients are high-functioning on the outside but carrying stress or emotional exhaustion underneath. You’re not alone, and there’s no pressure to have it all figured out to begin.

Q: What can I expect in the first session, and how long are sessions after that?

Our first session is a 60-minute intake where I focus on getting to know you — your story, your concerns, and what you’re hoping to work through. We’ll explore your goals and begin to lay the foundation for our work together.

After that, sessions may be either 45 or 60 minutes, depending on what’s showing up for you and the depth of the work we’re doing. We’ll also talk about the cadence of sessions — whether weekly, biweekly, or otherwise — and decide together what’s most supportive for your needs and goals.

Q: How long will I need to be in therapy?

It depends on your goals and what brings you in. Some clients work through short-term challenges over a few months; others stay longer to work through trauma or deepen self-understanding. We’ll revisit your goals regularly so therapy stays aligned with your needs.

Q: What issues do you specialize in?

I support BIPOC professionals, neurodivergent adults, and individuals healing from trauma, anxiety, and emotional burnout. My approach is culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and rooted in compassion — not perfection.

Q: What therapy modalities do you use?

I draw from EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Brainspotting, Somatic Experiencing, CBT, ACT, Mindfulness, and Emotion-Focused Therapy. You can read more about how I work on the “How We’ll Work Together” section on the About page.

Q: Do you offer therapy intensives?

Yes, I offer therapy intensives for individuals and couples seeking deeper, focused work. Intensives are extended sessions (typically 90 minutes to 3 hours) designed to help you move through specific challenges or stuck points more efficiently than traditional weekly therapy.

They’re ideal if you’ve hit a plateau in your healing, want to address a particular issue more intentionally, or prefer to work in a more condensed timeframe due to schedule or preference.

Please note: therapy intensives are private pay only, and superbills are not available for these sessions.

You can learn more about intensives on the Therapy Intensives page or contact me to explore if this approach is right for you.

Q: What if I’ve had a bad experience in therapy before?

I understand how disheartening that can be. Therapy should feel safe, respectful, and attuned to your needs. You’re welcome to share your feelings about those experiences here, and we’ll move at a pace that honors your comfort and consent.

Q: Do you accept insurance?

Yes, I accept the following insurances; Aetna, Carelon, Humana, LA Care, Optum, Oscar, Oxford, United Healthcare and other insurance as well. I accept insurance through Grow Therapy and Headway

Q: What if I’m paying out of pocket or using out-of-network benefits?

I offer private pay options for those who prefer not to use insurance or who wish to work together outside of insurance limitations. This allows us more flexibility in our work together — in terms of session length, focus areas, and how often we meet.

If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill — a detailed receipt that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Every plan is different, so I always recommend contacting your insurance provider to ask about out-of-network mental health coverage.

Whether you’re using insurance or paying privately, I’ll work with you to find the most supportive path forward.
