What is a Therapy Intensive?

A Therapy Intensive is a focused, extended therapy session designed to help you dive deep into your healing process. Unlike traditional weekly therapy, a Therapy Intensive involves spending several hours or even days in concentrated therapy. This approach allows you to make significant progress in a shorter amount of time, addressing core issues and promoting deep, lasting change.

Types of Therapy Intensives Offered

1. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): EMDR is a powerful, evidence-based therapy that helps you process and heal from traumatic experiences. During an EMDR Intensive, you’ll work through distressing memories and emotions in a safe, supportive environment. By targeting the root of your trauma, EMDR can help reduce the emotional charge of past experiences, leading to greater emotional freedom and resilience.

Benefits of an EMDR Intensive:
  • Rapid relief from trauma and PTSD symptoms.
  • Helps reprocess and integrate painful memories.
  • Effective for anxiety, phobias, and depression.
2. IFS (Internal Family Systems): IFS is a gentle, compassionate therapy that helps you connect with and heal different parts of yourself. During an IFS Intensive, you’ll explore the various “parts” of your psyche, such as the inner critic or the wounded child, and work towards inner harmony. This approach allows for deep self-understanding and healing, as you learn to care for and integrate these parts.

Benefits of an IFS Intensive:
  • Deep self-awareness and understanding of internal conflicts.
  • Healing of past wounds and trauma.
  • Greater inner peace and self-compassion.
3. Integrated EMDR and IFS Therapy Intensive: This unique approach combines the strengths of both EMDR and IFS, providing a comprehensive and holistic healing experience. In an Integrated EMDR and IFS Intensive, you will use EMDR to process traumatic memories while simultaneously working with your internal parts through IFS. This dual approach allows for deeper healing by addressing both the emotional impact of trauma and the internal conflicts that may arise from it.

Benefits of an Integrated EMDR and IFS Intensive:
  • A comprehensive approach to trauma and emotional healing.
  • Simultaneously process traumatic memories and heal internal conflicts.
  • Enhanced self-compassion and emotional resilience.
4. Brainspotting is a powerful therapy technique that helps you process and heal from trauma, stress, and emotional pain. It works by using specific eye positions, or “brainspots,” to access areas in your brain where these emotions are stored. By focusing on these brainspots, your mind and body naturally begin to release and process the unresolved trauma, leading to deeper healing and relief from emotional distress. During the intensive you will be guided to focus on “brainspots,” or specific eye positions that connect with areas of your brain where trauma or stress is stored. As you focus on these spots, you will process emotions that come up at your own pace.

Benefits of a Brainspotting Intensive:
  • Targeted trauma release.
  • Enhanced self-awareness.
  • Improved emotional resilience.

What To Expect During the Therapy Intensives Process

Embarking on a Therapy Intensive program is a powerful step towards deep healing and transformation. Here’s an overview of what you can expect during the process:

1. Consultation Session
Your journey begins with a complimentary consultation session. This is an opportunity for us to discuss your needs, concerns, and what you’re hoping to achieve through therapy. We’ll explore whether a Therapy Intensive is the right fit for you and how it can best support your healing journey.

2. Pre-Intake Process
After the consultation, you’ll be provided with an intake questionnaire and other necessary assessments. These forms are designed to gather important information about your history, current challenges, and therapy goals. Completing these before our intake session allows us to maximize our time together and ensures that our sessions are tailored specifically to your needs.

3. Intake Session
In the 90-minute intake session, we’ll dive deeper into the information provided in your pre-intake forms. We’ll discuss your history in more detail, explore your current challenges, and identify the specific goals and targets you want to work on during the intensive. Together, we’ll develop a customized plan for your Therapy Intensive, deciding whether EMDR, IFS, or a combination of both is most appropriate for your needs.

4. The Intensive Sessions
This is the core of your Therapy Intensive experience. Depending on the plan we’ve developed, our sessions can range from 3 to 15 hours (over 1-3 days), allowing for deep, focused work. During these sessions, I will utilize EMDR, IFS, or a combination of both approaches to address your therapeutic goals. The extended time allows us to make significant progress, processing complex emotions, healing from trauma, and integrating different parts of your psyche. Each session is conducted in a supportive and safe environment, ensuring you feel comfortable throughout the process.

5. Post- Intensive Therapy Session Review
After the intensive sessions, we’ll schedule a 60- minute post-session review to evaluate your progress. During this session, we’ll reflect on the work completed, discuss any remaining concerns, and identify steps for continued healing and growth. This session also allows us to ensure that the gains made during the intensive are sustained and integrated into your daily life.
